THIS is the distressing moment a guard dog chases and savages a schoolboy who had allegedly been pelting him with bricks.
The terrified boy, who is believed to be around seven or eight years old, can be seen sprinting away from a giant Alaskan Malamute which catches up to him and grabs his right arm.
The child struggles to free himself from the hound, which forces him against a wall and refuses to let go of his forearm.
Witnesses, including adults and other schoolchildren, rush over to help but are too afraid to approach the large dog.
The shocking incident was captured by a surveillance camera in the city of Wuchuan, in China’s southern Guangdong Province, on July 10, provincial television station GRT reported.
The witness tried to scare away the mutt by throwing bricks on the pavement near the guard dog but it reportedly continued to bite the boy out of view of the camera.
The clip ends with the crowd managing to charge to the boy and leading him away after his grisly ordeal.
Officer Jian, with Wuchuan’s Jiefang Police Station, said the boy and a second child were taken to a local hospital.
They suffered no life-threatening injuries, but the boy who was seen in the footage was treated for multiple bite injuries on his right arm.
Officer Jian said the Alaskan malamute, which can weigh over 90 pounds, belongs to a local resident, who usually chains the pooch up behind his house.
The policeman said: “The owner was at home and his dog was guarding the entrance outside.
“A few children walked past and threw bricks at the dog.”
The pooch then broke free of its chain after being provoked and attacked the boy and another friend, the authorities said.
An investigation is ongoing.
